I really liked this book. I must say that at first it was a bit complicated to understand and follow the conversations between Ben and Jake because of their accent/dialect, but once I got used to it, it wasn’t a problem.
The author takes you into a journey full of adventures, where you have to protect the stones and meet amazing characters and fantastical places on the way, while you learn next to Jake to use and control his new powers.
Webb put a big effort on describing them to detail so you can feel like you are there, next to the characters, in the middle of the battle.
It was, however a slow read, because it didn’t have the pages full of illustrations that I love to find on a book, I had to go back and forth to the author’s website (because I am crazy like that), but I think the printed version has all the maps and illustrations included.
But, honestly, I really liked the story, it had everything you can expect to find on a great epic fantasy book, and I am looking forward to read the 2nd part.
