Wings of Darkness (The Immortal Sorrows #1) Review

Death comes for everyone eventually, but Izzy Maitland plans to live forever. At nearly eighteen years old, it’s not an unreasonable goal, but Fate has other plans. Izzy has a car accident. A bad one. Suddenly, strange things start happening and her ordinary life is turned upside down. She wakes up tasting blood, more often than not, and her injuries heal at an alarming rate. Her friends and family weaken, and every day, Izzy grows stronger. Strangest of all, she seems to have acquired a stalker, and he might be the Angel of Death.

I would give it 10 stars out of 5 if I could. From the cover and until the last sentence, I loved this book and I think that I’m a new Paranormal fan/reader/obsessed from now on.

When Isabel is involved in a car wreck, Death shows to collect the other driver’s soul, but when Isabel’s soul seems determinate to leave her body even if its not her time, Death finds himself doing something that would change their lives for ever.

Isabel and Asher’s story is one to remember and follow until the end. I loved to be able to read Asher’s point of view and understand him, I loved to see the characters transformations, I even liked Grim at the end!

I really liked the writing style and it even made me laugh with some of Izzie’s and Gwen’s smart-a$$ answers. They are such lovable girls, even when Gwen is trying to pick a fight with every person that crosses the street in her direction.

I also liked the fact that Izzie loves cats and finds the idea of becoming a crazy cat lady amusing.

I was so shocked and in denial with the ending that I had to start book 2 immediately, thankfully there is more to come on this very imaginative and breath-taking story!

Sherri Wingler is the author of Wings of Darkness, Book 1 of The Immortal Sorrows series. She lives and works (way more than full-time) in Indiana.

Sherri shares her home with her husband, Steve, too many rescued kitty cats, two geriatric dogs, and one co-dependent Shih Tzu named Spanky. (Without Spanky’s help, Wings of Darkness would have been finished much sooner!)

When she isn’t writing, or working in the real world, her spare time is spent raising money for her local Humane Society, in the hopes of saving at least a few little critters.

Sherri is currently hard at work on the next book in The Immortal Sorrows series.
